Sundays in Bed With…is a meme hosted by Kate of the Midnight Book Girl blog. You must share what book you’re curled up in bed with today (or which book you’d love to spend all day in bed reading if only you had the time)!
It’s a rainy Sunday in Manila! It has been a wet, rainy weekend, and it’s a great time to catch up on reading since going out isn’t as appealing because of reports of flooding and horrible traffic. So for today, I am going to read Wifey by Judy Blume. I read many of her children and young adult books, and I am curious to know how her adult fiction would go. She is one of my favorite writers because her writing tries to push the envelope so her readers would be left thinking about issues that are otherwise considered taboo at such a tender age. I am hopeful that her other books would advocate the same. Knowing her style, this happens without the need for a grand and extremely tragic event — a day-to-day occurrence, a routine, a friendship; they are what usually set off her great storytelling.
Wifey is Judy Blume’s hilarious, moving tale of a woman who trades in her conventional wifely duties for her wildest fantasies-and learns a lot about life along the way. Sandy Pressman is a nice suburban wife whose boredom is getting the best of her. She could be making friends at the club, like her husband keeps encouraging her to do. Or working on her golf game. Or getting her hair done. But for some reason, these things don’t interest her as much as the naked man on the motorcycle…
