I always get the feeling that I am bound to go online once more after watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip every Tuesday.
Especially now the ETC 2nd Avenue apparently started airing the pilot, which I could only assume meant repeating the entire 22 episodes once more.
I’m so happy. 🙂
See, last week, they aired like the 17th episode and I thought then they were just buying a few more weeks to introduce the show that would replace it. That’s why I deliberately tuned in 10 minutes late. And bam, I recognized that coat of Jordan McDeere (Amanda Peet) and truly, I shrieked this couldn’t be the pilot! But it was.
So, I already missed my chance to watch Wes Mendel’s powerful monologue that started the ball rolling for the show.
Here’s a good capture of that monologue:
It still is one of the best TV moments for me. Here are snippets of that:
…This show used to be cutting edge political and social satire, but it’s gotten lobotomized by a candy-ass broadcast network hell-bent on doing nothing that might challenge their audience…We’re all being lobotomized by this country’s most influential industry that’s just throwing in the towel on any endeavor to do anything that doesn’t include the courting of 12 year old boys. And not even the smart 12 year olds. The stupid ones. The idiots. Which there are plenty, thanks in no small measure to this network, so why don’t you just change the channel? Turn off your TVs, do it right now, go ahead.
…A struggle between art and commerce. Well, there’s always been a struggle between art and commerce. And now I’m telling you art is getting its ass kicked. And it’s making us mean, and it’s making us bitchy. It’s making us cheap punks. That’s not who we are!
…We’re eating worms for money…That remote in your hand is a crack pipe.
…And the two things that make them scared gutless are the FCC* and every psycho religious cult that gets positively horny at the very mention of a boycott…This prissy, feckless, off-the-charts, greed-filled whorehouse of a network…And you’re watching this thoroughly unpatriotic Mother-
GO TO VTR NOW!!!
Right now, my hope is for Solar Entertainment to just air Studio 60 episodes in chronology. Thinking about it gives me a mental orgasm. Really.
This, of course, in light of a buzz that effective January 1, 2008, Solar channels will be off the list of Skycable channel lists. Apparently the Sky group will introduce new channels of their own so they wont have to pay Solar anymore. See, if they would purchase the rights to the shows we love to watch on Jack TV, Crime/Suspense, ETC, ETC 2nd Avenue and all those Solar Sports channels, then by all means.
As of now, I’m going to sleep grinning. Mental orgasm, courtesy of Aaron Sorkin.
